2011 Deans Trophy Quarter Finals

The Deans Trophy Quarter Finals will be held on Saturday, 30 July 2011, starting 8.20am, at the tfl National Stadium, Laucala Bay, Suva.   This year sees a new format where the Under 18 teams will play for the Deans Trophy.  The Under 19 teams will now compete for the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Cup.  Under 18 teams that will play in the quarter finals include :
  • Marist Brothers High School vs Ratu Navula;
  • Suva Grammar School vs Queen Victoria School;
  • Lomawai Secondary School vs Lelean Memorial School; and
  • Ratu Kadavulevu School vs John Wesley College.


2011 Tadra Kahani

The 2011 Tadra Kahani will be held on Thursday, 18 August, and Friday, 19 August 2011, at the Vodafone Arena, Laucala Bay, Suva.  Sixteen schools from around Fiji will be participating.  The event sees students express messages through creative art, song and dance.  For more information, pls email loretta@fm96.com.fj.

2011 Kula Film Awards

The 2011 Kula Film Awards organised by the Fiji Audio Visual Commission will be held on Saturday, 30 July 2011 at the Tattersalls Leisure Centre, Laucala Bay, Suva.  It will be preceded on Friday night, 29 July, by a Dance Competition at the same venue.  Tickets are available at the Fiji Audio Visual Commission Office, Ground Floor,  Civic House, Suva.

South Pacific Information and Communications Technology Exposition - Day 3


Today is Day 3 of the South Pacific Information and Communications Technology Exposition (SPICTEX) at the University of the South Pacific, Laucala Bay, Suva. SPICTEX runs from Wednesday, 20 July, to Saturday, 23 July 2011 at the University of the South, Suva. Today's events include :

  • ICT Presentations, 9am to 12pm, at the Video Conference Room, Japan-Pacific ICT Centre, USP Upper Campus - Session will have presentations by the Ministry of Communications & Telecommunications Authority of Fiji and the Department of Information Technology and Computer Services on the topics : Role of Government and the Regulator in Facilitating ICT Development and e-Governance; Delivering Service to the People through ICT;
  • 2011 SPICTEX Lego Robotics Competition, 1pm to 4pm, at the Engineering Lab 048-324, Japan-Pacific ICT Centre, USP Upper Campus - Students from schools in the West, North and Central Divisions will be given the opportunity to apply their knowledge of physics, mathematics and IT in designing and operating Lego robots;
  • ICT Exhibitions, 10am to 8pm, at USP Upper Rara - with exhibitions from the ICT industries in the region.

Today is Day 2 of the South Pacific Information and Communications Technology Exposition (SPICTEX) at the University of the South Pacific, Laucala Bay, Suva.  SPICTEX runs from Wednesday, 20 July, to Saturday, 23 July 2011 at the University of the South, Suva.  Today's events include :
  1. ICT Symposium, 9am to 4.30pm, at the Video Conference Room, Japan-Pacific ICT Centre, USP Upper Campus - Morning Session with the Theme : ICT Influence in Education, Afternoon Session with the Theme : ICT in Business;
  2. Keynote and Panel Discussion, 6pm to 8pm, at the Marine Studies Lecture Theatre, USP Lower Campus - Keynote Address is on Business Incubation followed by a Panel Discussion on the topic;

The "Laughing Samoans" will perform in Fiji in August 2011.  They will have 3 shows as follows :

An art exhibition is currently being held at a garage offered Jennifer Pool, Medical Services Pacific Clinic's Executive Director, at Lady Narain Drive in Wairua, Suva.  The items at the exhibition include paintings from Craig and Warwick Marlow, Mason Lee, Sharon Light and Josie Crick.  Funds raised will be utilised for free reproductive health clinics for women and youths in Suva.

South Pacific Information and Communications Technology Exposition (SPICTEX) 2011

The South Pacific Information and Communications Technology Exposition (SPICTEX) 2011 will be held from Wednesday, 20 July, to Saturday, 23 July 2011 at the University of the South Pacific's Japan-Pacific ICT Centre, Laucala Campus, Suva.



Being the first of its kind for Fiji and the region, SPICTEX is an initiative of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Environment (FSTE) at USP, in partnership with the Government of Fiji and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).


The Expo will present a large scale opportunity for local and regional companies and organisations to review and explore how ICT can help improve businesses, enhance the quality of life for the people of the region and drive economic growth.
