Annual Diwali Celebrations

The Fiji Hindu Society is organising its Annual Diwali Celebrations on Saturday, 30 October 2010, from 6.30pm onwards at Kshatriya Hall, Des Voeux Road, Suva. A cultural program will be on from 6.30pm to 8pm with dinner served at 8.15pm. Admission is F$7.00 per adult and F$3.00 per child between 5 and 12 years of age.

Johnny Rodgers Band from New York

The US Embassy presents New York's Johnny Rodgers Band with performances in Suva as follows :
  • Wednesday, 3 November 2010, 10am to 11.30am, at Suva Civic Centre, for Primary School students;
  • Wednesday, 3 November 2010, 2pm to 3.30pm, at Suva Civic Centre, for Secondary School students;
  • Wednesday, 3 November 2010, 7pm to 8.30pm, at Suva Civic Centre, for the general public; and
  • Thursday, 4 November 2010, 7pm to 8.30pm, at Holiday Inn, for the general public.

The program is co-produced by Jazz at Lincoln Centre, the US Department of State Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and US Embassy, Suva.

Melbourne Cup

The Rotary Club of Suva will hold its annual Melbourne Cup Calcutta on Tuesday, 2 November 2010, from 12.30pm onwards at the Holiday Inn, Suva. A lunch ticket is selling for F$35.00 per person. Tables can be reserved at F$150.00 per table for 10 people. Activities include : horse auctions, prize auctions, horse betting, door prizes, hat prizes, fashion show and other surprises. Pacific Market Day

The next Pacific Market Day will take place on Thursday, 28 October 2010, from 9am to 5pm at the Grounds adjacent to the Students’ Car Park & Bus Bay, University of the South Pacific, Laucala Bay, Suva. Items to be sold include food, handicraft, clothes, root crops, books, fruits, jewellery, printed fabrics,vegetables, etc. Entertainment will be provided by Digicel gigrig and the Police Dance Band.

Annual Sukuna Bowl Competition

The Annual Sukuna Bowl Rugby match between the Fiji Military Forces and the Fiji Police Force will take place on Friday, 29 October 2010, starting 4pm, at the tfl National Stadium, Laucala Bay, Suva.

Art Exhibition and Performance Night

The Pacific Writing Forum in the School of Language, Arts and Media (USP) will host its end of semester 'Art Exhibition and Performance Night' on Friday, 29 October 2010, starting 5.30pm, at the Performance Space, University of the South Pacific, Laucala Bay, Suva. The event will begin with an art exhibition featuring the works of three artists. Performances will be held from 6.30pm to 9pm. Members of the USP staff, students and the general public are invited to attend this celebration of the arts, culture and music. 2010 Mobilise Convention

The Nomura Cup 2011

The Asia Pacific Golf Federation Team Championship (APGC), The Nomura Cup 2011, will be held from 16 to 19 August 2011, at Denarau. This is an international tournament and Fiji is the first South Pacific Island nation to be selected from the APGC to host the tournament. The tournament will be played simultaneously at the Natadola and Denarau golf courses.

Great Lami Bike Ride

Grab your bike and join Cycling Fiji at the first Great Lami Bike Ride, Saturday, 23 October 2010, starting 9am, from Tikaram Park, Lami. This is a fun cycle for all ages around Lami and Wailada and back to Tikaram Park. Safety is important so please make sure your bike is in good working order before you come to the ride. This event is part of the Lami Festival.
