Open Forum on Climate Change

The European Union and the University of the South Pacific will hold an Open Forum on Climate Change "Continuing the Dialogue" on Wednesday, 28 April 2010, from 6pm to 8pm at the AusAid Lecture Theatre, University of the South Pacific, Laucala Bay, Suva. This will be a night of conversations about COP15 looking ahead to COP16. It will provide attendees an opportunity to talk to representatives of the governments of the Peoples Republic of China, USA, Kiribati and from Pacific Regional Non-Governmental Organisations (PRNGOs), SPREP and the Econesian Society. Celebrate World YWCA Day

Celebrate World YWCA Day at the YWCA National Office, 3 Desvouex Road, Suva on Saturday, 24 April 2010. Program starts with a Worship Service at 9am and then continues with the launch of the Young Ys Environment and Biodiversity Project by National President Leba Mataitini. Informal activities begin at 10am. Hurricane Tomas Appeal Concert

The Fiji National University, the Ministry of Information and Procera Music is organising a concert in aid of the Hurricane Tomas Appeal on Saturday, 24 April 2010, from 2pm to 9pm at the Vodafone Arena, Laucala Bay, Suva. Tickets are F$5.00 per adult and F$2.00 per child. They can be bought from Procera Music Shop in Suva or Nausori or at the gates.

Fiji Fashion Week - Workshop 2

Designers Fashion Workshops will be held on Saturday, 8 May, and Sunday, 9 May 2010, at the FNU Campus, Carpenter Street, Raiwai, Suva. The workshop starts at 8am on Saturday, 8 May. The workshops will be for fashion enthusiasts and will cover the following :
  • Day 1 - Fashion trends and forecasting, and Textiles & design development; and
  • Day 2 - Pattern making & garment construction, and quality assurance and marketing.

Tangata Fenua, Tangata Moana

The Oceania Centre for Arts, Culture & Pacific Studies of the University of the South Pacific will present "Tangata Fenua. Tangata Moana" (People of the land. People of the Sea) on Friday, 23 April 2010, starting 7pm, at the Pearl South Pacific Resort, Pacific Harbor. Entry fee is F$10.00 per person. Celebrate Earth Day 2010 with a Pacific feast of art and culture including visual Art, dance and music. As one of the leading Pacific institutions responsible for the development of the arts and artists, the Oceania Centre is pleased to announce its first corporate art outreach event which coincides with International Earth Day and features the launch of the Oceania Dance Theatre and the NewSounds ensemble which will be showcased in Shanghai at the World Trade Show in May 2010. It also includes an art exhibition comprising art works selected from the Oceania Centre Private Collection by Pacific artists from Fiji, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, and Tonga as well as the art works of a few budding new local talents. Fiji Fashion Week invites suitable female and male models from the Western Division to audition for the 2010 grand event to be held in October. Annual Rev. Paula Niukula Memorial Lecture 2010

The School of Government, Development & International Affairs, University of the South Pacific, and the Ecumenical Centre for Research, Education & Advocacy (ECREA) is hosting the 2010 Annual Reverend Paula Niukula Memorial Lecture. 2010 Fiji Hibiscus Festival

The 2010 Fiji Hibiscus Festival will be held from Friday, 20 August, to Saturday, 28 August 2010, at Albert Park, Suva. The festival organisers have said this year's event will be bigger than previous years with new events to be put on including an agricultural show and an arts festival, among others.

Oceania Weightlifting Championship

The Oceania Weightlifting Championship will be held from Tuesday, 4 May, to Friday, 7 May 2010, at the Yat Sen Secondary School Hall, Flagstaff, Suva.

80 km Road Cycle Race

A 80km Road Cycle Race will be held on Sunday, 11 April 2010, starting 7.45am, at Lami, near Suva. The race will be from Lami to Pacific Harbour and back to Lami. This race is for experienced cyclists only. Competitors must be able to cycle at an average speed of 32kmph minimum. Helmets must be worn by competitors at all times when on a bike. Blood Drive

The 2010 Young Mussos' Acclaim, Fiji Secondary Schools Original Song Competition, will be held on Friday, 30 April 2010, from 6.30pm to 10pm, at the Tattersalls Leisure Centre, Laucala Bay, Suva. Prizes to be won include :

The Fiji Museum will open only on Saturday, 3 April, and from Tuesday, 6 April 2010 onwards. It closes on Friday, 2 April, and Monday, 5 April. The opening hours are from 9.30am to 4.30pm.
