Recovering from Cyclone Mick

Suva residents are recovering from Cyclone Mick which hit Suva on Monday afternoon, 14 December 2009. Whilst residents suffer various degrees of damages, it was a blessing that there were not as many fatalities from it. This is the first cyclone is many, many years which Suva has directly been exposed to. In our area, power was restored after 3pm yesterday while the water was back on around 7pm last night. We thank our friends at the Fiji Electricity Authority and the Water Department for doing their best to put these utilities back on as soon as possible. This was a great improvement from January 2008 when we had the last cyclone. As to the many residents of the greater Suva, Lami and Nausori areas, our many good wishes to you as you rebuild, repair and renovate, and look forward to Christmas next week.
