This is to commemorate their International Campaign on Violence Against Women and Violence Against Human Rights. There will be three short films screened on the night. They are 'Morocco: Never Again', 'Nepal: Narrow Escape', and 'Congo: Find a Word for It'. The Moroccon film portrays how Morocco is coming to terms with the human rights abuses of its recent past. Televised testimonies to a truth and reconciliation commission set up by the Government have transfixed the nation. Morocco is discovering the truth about wrongful imprisonments, torture and disappearances of the past. The public has also discovered the prominent role women played in resisting abuses of the law in the 1970s and 1980s. ‘Nepal: A Narrow Escape’ is about a 24 year old woman Sushma, who was deserted by her husband and had to support her four children. She was sold into sexual slavery and managed to escape from her trafficker. ‘Congo: Find a Word for It’ is set in the eastern provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo where for the last ten years, have been at war. The women bear the brunt of it. The precise number of victims suffering from rape and related diseases is impossible to know. Shunned by their community, the women are often reluctant to come forward for treatment. Instead, they are forced to bear the physical and psychological scars of their ordeal alone. Fiji lost to Australia 0 to 52 in the Rugby League World Cup semi final played on Sunday, 16 November 2008. Blog Readership : October 2008 vs September 2008

We again provide you with statistics on our blog readership. Here are the readership statistics for our Promoting Suva blog for the months of October and September 2008. Data for October is given first followed by data for September. October 2008 September 2008 Observations
  • Readership of the blog grew by 285 visits in October 2008 compared to the month earlier;
  • Readers from Fiji, Australia, USA, New Zealand, United Kingdom and Canada continue to form our largest readership group being over 80% of our blog readers. Readers from these countries can best be targeted for marketing from this blog;
  • Our top referring site continues to be google.com. It now far exceeds those that click directly onto our blog. This indicates our high visibility on google searches. Our site's search ranking on Google continues to do well with most searches, e.g. for 'Suva activities', 'Suva events', 'Suva Sports', 'Suva art', 'Suva craft', 'Suva tourist activities', 'Suva shopping', our site usually appears on Page 1;
  • Keyword searches indicate that readers are searching for a broad range of issues from individuals, to activities, to places and sights, to shopping and art. Most notable is the increased searches for commercial/shopping companies e.g. Courts Homecentres, Tappoos, Morris Hedstrom. Since we last provided our readership statistics, we note that there is now a move towards more online shopping rather than our readers merely searching for activities and events. Companies can utilise our wide readership base and high search rankings to market and advertise their products.

For advertising to our wide readership base, check our advertising rates here. If you wish to discuss how we you can advertise your products and services on our blog, e-mail us on info@gilbert.com.fj.
