Fiji Day Celebrations in Suva

A big program of events has been put together to celebrate Fiji's 37th Anniversary after obtaining Independence from Great Britain. Here is the program of events in Suva for Saturday, 6 October 2007 : (Note that all Suva events will be held at Albert Park, unless stated otherwise)
  • 9.30am, Parade March;
  • 9.55am, Interim Prime Minister arrives;
  • 10.00am, President arrives;
  • 10.00am, Presidential Salute, National Anthem, March past by the FMF and Fiji Police Force, Address by the President, departure of the President and Interim Prime Minister;
  • 11.15am, Parade March throughout the city of Suva;
  • 11.15am, Re-enactment of the Deed of Cession;
  • 11.30am, Kids Fun Day Program - Chesty Ball, Tunnel Ball, Touch Rugby, Two-legged Race, Cat and Mouse, Dog and Bone, Sack Race, Egg & Spoon Race, Pawpaw Smashing, Bun Eating Competition, Apple Eating Competition, Bouncy Castles;
  • 11.45am to 4.00pm, Entertainment by Jale and the Bula Boys, Monfort Boys Town, Rotuman Dance Group, Draiba Fijian School, Indian Cultural Centre, Rishikul Sanatan College, The "Vude" Queen, Chinese Group, Na Domokoula, Kadavu Meke Group, Banaban Cultural Group, Raiwaqa Youth Meke Group, Police Jazz Band, Loloma Meke Group, FIT School of Arts & Culture Choir;
  • 4pm, Hymn and Closing Prayer.
