Hobie 16 Worlds : Fiji 2007
The Hobie 16 World Championships will be held in Suva from Monday, 8 October, to Friday, 19 October 2007 at a newly constructed beach located at Suva Point, Laucala Bay, Suva. ANZ Banking Group is sponsoring the event. It is expected that more than 500 competitors between the ages of 14 and 75 will take part. The sailors will make up 240 world-class teams representing 28 countries, including Fiji. The top five Hobie sailing countries are : France, Australia, Germany, South Africa and United Kingdom. The sailors will compete in 5 classes - Youth, Women's, Open, Masters and Grand Masters. The Hobie 16 World Championships are held every two years with the last one held at Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa in 2005.
