Music Festival - Suva Secondary Schools

A Music Festival for secondary schools in Suva will be held from Monday, 28 May, to Wednesday, 30 May 2007, from 11am to 1pm on each day, at the Tattersalls Leisure Centre, Laucala Bay, Suva. The Fiji Secondary Schools Music Festival follows the following week. The schools performing include :
  1. Marist Brothers' High School,
  2. International Secondary School,
  3. Laucala Bay Secondary School,
  4. Gospel High School,
  5. Nabua Secondary School,
  6. Nasinu Secondary School,
  7. Ratu Sukuna Memorial School and
  8. Adi Cakobau School.
The event is being coordinated by the University of the South Pacific’s Music Program and will feature the Malaga Group singers from the University providing music. The event's theme will be ‘Breaking Barriers, Voice and Harmony’ with the purpose being to bring school children together and create a sense of harmony and friendliness despite their different cultures and background. The Master of Ceremony will be Laughing Samoans performer, Tofinga. Students from all eight schools will make up a mass choir which will perform at the event with individual schools each performing their own individuals dances and musical presentations. The Malaga singers are also using the Festival as an opportunity to fund raise for their trip to Korea at the end of the year where they will showcase songs and dances from the Pacific. Tickets for the evening performances including the opening show on Monday May 28 are F$10.00 dollars per person and can be purchased from the USP Book Centre, Laucala Bay, Suva, or at the Boom Box, Downtown Boulevard and the FNPF Dolphins Plaza . Tickets will also be sold on the gate during the performance nights.
