National Art Gallery to be built

A National Art Gallery for Fiji will be built in Suva to address the lack of facilities for promotion of art in the country. The gallery is to be built at the present site of Government's Information Technology Centre (ITC) along Victoria Parade between the Suva City Library and the Fiji Development Bank buildings. The proposal has been approved by the Interim Government on a submission by the Minister for Fijian Affairs, Heritage, Provincial Development and Multi-Ethnic Affairs.

Good idea to have an Art Gallery, as the USP Oceania Institute is more an artwork-in-progress place. Hey, what's happened to the art course at FIT? In today's news, they say it's been scrubbed! Eleven students enrolled. Not enough students I reckon - should have fifty. If I wasn't so long in the tooth, I would offer to teach there.
