There is hope for Fijians

An interesting report on Fijians being much more slimmer than their Pacific Island neighbours has just been released. The survey done by the World Health Organisation finds 8 Pacific Island countries within the 10 fattest countries in the world, however, Fiji was not included. Ranked as the top 4 countries were Nauru, Micronesia, the Cook Islands and Tonga. Fiji ranked 68th on the list. Read more on the report here.

That's an interesting survey result but I still think that many people in Fiji need more exercise and a stricter diet. More stats would enlighten though - a comparison of urban v rural and perhaps a comparison by ethnic group, even civil servants and the rest of the people, talatalas and others! Those who have to walk long distances would surely be fitter than those who take taxis or go by car. Does weight have much to to with wealth or location?

I know that the younger generation are more into the fitness age, particularly with the influence of television, movies and the Hollywood stars.
