Rain, rain and more rain
Funny that just a week earlier, the Weather Office in Nadi had forecasted a dry spell over the Fiji group (read our post on 31 January 2007) and then a week later, we had heavy rain and strong winds in the Northern Division. Over the weekend, there has been more rain and parts of the Western Division are under water. Nadi town was underwater yesterday. The weather office last night announced that there will be more rains to come. The Chief Weather Officer said, however, this would clear up by Wednesday. One good thing that we might be able to count on now is that the Monasavu Dam will fill up and will be able to generate most of our electricity needs. That would cut down the need for the authorities to buy more diesel fuel (for fuel generation) and impose surcharges on our bills.
