Rain and floods
Rain continued in the Suva area over the last two days with some low-lying parts of the Central Division which are close to rivers flooded. The weather office at Nadi has said that more rain is to be expected over the next two days and is cautioning citizens to lookout for the possibility of floods. Damage in the Suva and Central Division has not been as bad as with the Northern (Labasa) and Western (Nadi) Divisions. Nausori town, which used to be flooded whenever there were heavy rains, has been saved from such catastrophe recently. Much credit for that has been attributed to the dredging of the Rewa River. Citizens are now calling for the same to be done to some of the other rivers including those at Nadi and Labasa.
