Census work continues

Work to conduct a Fiji Population census this year has continued at the Bureau of Statistics. An allocation of F$6 million has been set aside to conduct the census. The census was deferred from 2006. Previously, Fiji has had its census conducted every 10 years from 1966, 1976, 1986 to 1996. This would be a real challenge for statisticians and demographers who use such data for analyses as the time period will now not be consistent (i.e. it will be a 11 year time lag now since the last census was conducted).
