Akapusi Qera wins Rugby Player of the Year Award

Akapusi Qera of Nadroga won the Fiji Rugby Union's 2006 Player of the Year Award at the awards ceremony held last night in Suva. He beat other nominees in his category : Jone Qovu and Kameli Ratuvou. Other winners were :
  • Top Official - Vilikesa Rauca;
  • Best Referee - Joeli Tubu;
  • Best Women's Player - Elina Taoba;
  • Milo Kaji Coach - Lasarusa Senibale;
  • Best Under 18 Player - John Vugakoto;
  • Best Under 19 Player - Andrew Durutalo;
  • Best Under 21 Player - Jone Qovu;
  • Best Island Zone Player - Peni Ralagi;
  • Best Northern Player - Anare Bale;
  • Best Southern Player - Jasa Kadivuka;
  • Best 7s Player - Etonia Naba;
  • Best Sanyo Cup Player - Jiuta Lutumailagi;
  • Best Colonial Cup Player - Maleli Naqitu;
  • Best Warriors Player - Wame Lewaravu;
  • Best Fiji 7s Player - Lepani Nabuliwaqa;
  • Best Coach - Joji Rinakama.

The awards ceremony is usually held at the end of December each year but was postponed to January after the events of early December.
