Interim President reassures tourists of safety
The Interim President, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, yesterday thanked tourists that had visited at this time despite the bad publicity and asked them to inform their families and friends overseas that there is no threat to them to visit Fiji. "Please do not miss this opportunity to grace our shores and experience our very unique multicultural way of life", he said. Business is slowly returning after a week of low customer turnout and low sales, according to the Fiji Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber said that business is slowly picking up not only in Suva but the other parts of Fiji as well. Tappoos Suva store said that the flow of shoppers and the resulting sales in the past few days had been encouraging. Shops continue to advertise their sales for Christmas. Some of the bargains are worth checking out.
