QVS Club site to be developed into a high rise commercial property

One of the capital city's landmarks, formerly known as the Matanisiga Hall and housing the QVS Club, is to be developed into a high-rise commercial property. The new property will also house a state-of-the-art clubhouse for members. Private and public sector organisations have already shown interest in renting office space in the new building. The clubhouse is used by former students of Queen Victoria School as a meeting place. Because of its central location in Suva, the market value of the property has risen dramatically in the past years. It is adjacent to the Suva Private Hospital and within walking distance to the city's central business district. The club members are also planning to celebrate their former school's 100th anniversary in October 2007.
