Oceania Hockey Qualifiers for Olympics to be hosted in Suva

The Fiji Hockey Federation will host the Oceania women's hockey qualifying tournament in Suva next year. The qualifiers are for the upcoming Olympic Games to be held in Beijing, China, in 2008. The national women's team defending the gold medal at the South Pacific Games next year will go straight into the qualifying tournament after the Apia games next year. The Fiji Federation said it was a good opportunity for the Fiji women's team to play against Australia, one of the top teams in the world. The event will be held from 10 September 2007. Entries are expected from Australia, New Zealand and the two top teams from the 2007 South Pacific Games hockey tournament. The winner of the tournament automatically qualifies for the Olympic Games.
