New Korean volunteers arrive
Eight Korean volunteers were welcomed at the Government Training Centre on Monday, 23 October 2006, bringing the total of Korean volunteers serving in Fiji to 26. The Korean volunteer program has the primary objective of contributing to the well-being of developing countries, promoting friendship between Korea and the host country and sharing knowledge and skills of Korean volunteers with people in developing countries. Korean volunteers in Fiji serve in various areas with one medical doctor working at Rakiraki Hospital since 1997. Fiji has gained immensely from the kindness of Korea, Japan, the USA, and Australia who have been sending their volunteers to Fiji for a good number of years.
