Internet firm plans new wireless network

Unwired Fiji is testing a new wireless network aimed at the corporate market. The new Unwired Fiji Skyfibre network uses proprietary wireless technology that is to run parallel to the existing Broadband network. The new wireless network is to be launched in November 2006. Unwired said the new network was a fixed point to multi-point service ideal for high-end users who did not need the portability of the current network, which is designed for small to medium-level users. The new skyfibre network can offer almost unlimited speed and capacity and will cover a similar area to the current network. Note from GV : Unwired Fiji currently has a limited network range and is only available from Lami to the Valelevu, Nasinu area in the Suva area. Valelevu is located about 5 and a half miles from the Suva CBD. Our two bedroom rental home in Suva has a Personal Computer and Broadband Internet access provided complimentary for guests' use.
