Fiji Week Celebrations Program, 5 - 9 October 2006

The Fiji Independence Day celebrations will also be held in Suva and other centres around Fiji from Thursday, 5th to Monday, 9th October 2006. Here is the program of celebrations in Suva : Thursday, 5 October 2006
  • 2pm to 7pm, Public Service Inter-Ministry Choir Competition, Centenary Church, Suva.

Friday, 6 October 2006

  • 8.30am to 9.30am, Friendship March from the Suva Flea Market to Albert Park;
  • 10am to 11am, Official Opening by the President of Fiji, Albert Park;
  • 11am to 12.30pm, Multicultural Performances by Selected Schools and the Fiji Melanesian Arts & Cultural Group, Albert Park;
  • 11am to 12.30pm, School Friendship Multicultural Items Display, Albert Park;
  • 12.30pm to 2.30pm, Entertainment by the Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival's Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands Dance Groups, Albert Park;
  • 7pm to 9pm, Combined Evening Show at the Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival Village, FDB Foreshore;
  • 7.30pm to 10pm, Friendship Multicultural Evening at the Suva Patel Samaj Hall, High Street, Toorak.

Saturday, 7 October 2006

  • 6am to 8.30am, Walk for Health lead by the President of the Senate, National Gymnasium Car Park to Albert Park.

Sunday, 8 October 2006

  • 3pm, Interfaith Service led by Interfaith Search, Holiday Inn, Suva;

Monday, 9 October 2006

  • 9am, Fiji Day Parade, Albert Park;
  • 10.30am to 1.30pm, Multicultural Performances;
  • 1.30pm, Official Closing by the Acting Prime Minister.
