Vanuatu and Solomon Islands to arrive this week for Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival

The Vanuatu and Solomon Islands delegations for the Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival are expected to arrive in Suva this week. The two countries had verbally confirmed arrival while Papua New Guinea and New Caledonia will arrive on 30 September 2006. The delegations will be billeted in primary schools around the capital, namely Stella Marist Primary School, Vatuwaqa Primary School, Veiuto Primary School, Marist Brothers Primary School and Marcelin Primary School. In the meantime, Fiji's display will include a fishing practice only observed by the people of Namosi, a province of Fiji, which sees to the remaking of ancient fish traps. Four teams are preparing the Fiji delegation for the festival.

I am sure that this Cultural and Arts Festival will be a succes because our cultures and traditions are changing as a result of modernisation and rapib desire for devlopment in out fragile Pacific Nations....
