Next Fiji swimming grand prix in Suva
The momentum in Fiji Swimming continues to build with the start of the 2006 Twisties Grand Prix series at Nadi last Saturday. Swimmers performed well in the short course pool posting personal bests and eclipsing old records. All seven clubs, including the newly formed RFMF Seals from Suva were well represented. The highlight of the meet was the male and female Invitational Skins, which was contested by the top six males and females at the meet. This racing format involves completing 6 x 50m freestyle sprints in a knockout until only one swimmer remains. The difficulty is that these sprints are spaced only 90 seconds apart. Winners on the day were Calum Liew in the males category and Caroline Puamau in the females category. The next grand prix will be held in Suva on 28 October and will be hosted by the Tritons Swimming Club and the RFMF Seals Swimming Club.
