Exodus fails to deter Serevi

Fiji 7s Rugby coach, Waisale Serevi, says despite some of his national squad members signing overseas contracts, they were still part of his plans for the new season. His comments come after Sakiusa Masi Matadigo signed a contract in France and reports that Suva Grammar School Under-19 wing, Saimoni Vaka, could be jetting off to France to join Agen. The two were named in the 40-member Fiji squad, which will go into camp on 1 October 2006 to start preparing for the 2006/2007 IRB Series. The 7s maestro said there could be a call up for other players to fill the gap being created by the departure of players. A 15-member squad will be named next month after the Taiwan Double 10 Sevens to start preparing for the series. A timetable for the IRB 7s series is as follows :
  • Dubai, 1-2 December 2006;
  • George, South Africa, 8-9 December 2006;
  • Wellington, 2-3 February 2007;
  • San Diego (USA), 10-11 February 2007;
  • Hong Kong, 30-31 March and 1 April, 2007;
  • Adelaide, Australia, 7-8 April 2007;
  • London, 26-27 May 2007;

Fiji won the IRB series last year.
