Australian youth envoys arrive
13 Australian youth ambassadors who arrived in the country at the weekend were given a formal briefing on their roles yesterday at the Pacific Theological College in Suva. The Australian Government-funded ambassador program has been on-going since its inception in 1998. The youth group, the third batch of ambassadors to be sent this year, will be in Fiji for a year. A spokeswomen for AusAid-funded Australian Youth Ambassadors for Development said it was not only for capacity building but was an opportunity to learn through good cultural exchanges. Sarah Harvey, a communications specialist in the group, said, "For me, it's very much a study of the culture that you have here." Sarah will be attached to the Fiji Pharmaceutical Centre.
