Artist wins award

Ledua Peni won two awards at the Foster's National Art Exhibition at the Ratu Iloilovatu Gallery on Tuesday night. Peni's masterpiece, Everything in Pairs, won him the National Fine Art Award while his Motherly Love artwork won him the Highly Commended award. The young artist described the win as a great achievement and was looking forward to continuing to amaze art lovers with his work. Other awards given out included : The Emerging Artist award to Sofaia Tagilala; The Sculpture and Three-Dimensional Award to Ben Fong; The Okanui Cultural Art Award to Irami Buli and the Fosters Group Calendar Award to Fred Whippy. The exhibition is open all week this week from 9am to 6pm at the Ratu Iloilovatu Gallery, School of Art, Culture and Design, Fiji Institute of Technology, Carpenter Street, Raiwai, Suva. Note from GV : The Melanesian Festival of Arts and Culture will be held in Suva from 2 to 11 October 2006.
