Pacific event ends in Suva

The first-of-its-kind Pacific Epistemologies Conference ended in Suva yesterday. Conference convenor, Larry Thomas, said the combination of the festival and the conference was a success, with the five-day event full of exciting shows, movies, exhibitions, dances and lectures. Mr Thomas said the event gave artists and musicians a chance to participate in the academic forum. "The aim was to bring together all the artists and expose the knowledge systems of the Pacific. The event was one of its kind", said Mr Thomas. He added it was a remarkable gathering where ideas, cultures and information were exchanged. Held from 3 to 7 July, the festival was hosted by the University of the South Pacific's School of Language, Arts and Media. Dubbed "Vaka vuku - Navigating Knowledge", the conference brought together about 150 delegates from New Zealand, Australia, Europe and the Pacific region.
