New Rewa Bridge to open in two weeks

The widest and longest bridge in Fiji is to open to all traffic in two weeks. The European Union's local head said he was satisfied work on the bridge over the Rewa River would be completed successfully and would be handed over on 17 August. The EU is advocating that the new bridge be called the Europe Bridge to mark the relationship between Europe and Fiji. The EU said it hoped the new bridge would ease congestion caused by the old one and improve living conditions for people in the Nausori area. While the EU is committed to continue its support to Fiji, there are currently no new traffic infrastructure projects foreseen. The EU head in Fiji said their activities would mostly likely shift towards sustainable management of natural resources.
