Groups promote Fijian culture
Two dance groups will leave the country today for a tour to promote the Fijian culture in Australia. The winners from the Fiji Indigenous Music Competition, Jale Mareau and the Indian Cultural Centre's Shobna Channel Dance Group will be touring Australia to perform at the Talanoa Roadshow. The Fiji Indigenous Music Competition was held last year in October and 22 cultural groups from different provinces throughout the country took part in the event which was held at the FMF Dome in Suva. The groups would participate on roadshows in Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney. The Jale Mareau group will do string band music, dancing and chanting while the Shobna Channel group will do contemporary dance. A similar indigenous competition will be organised this year on 24 August as part of the Hibiscus Carnival. Note : For those coming to Suva, a two bedroom home can be viewed and booked with links at the right hand side of this blog or call direct +679 3396427; e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
