Festival promotes Pacific dances

The first Oceania Dance Festival kicked off with dances from around the region and a sneak preview of a dance collaboration piece by OCAC choreographer, Allan Alo and Indra Utama, a reknowned choreographer from West Sumatra, Indonesia. The Festival is being organised by the Oceania Centre and the Fiji Chapter of the World Dance Alliance with the main purpose to contribute to the activities of the Centre and to promote dance in Fiji. Unlike many traditional dance festivals in the Pacific, the Oceania Dance Festival focuses on contemporary concepts and ideas with the Pacific context and heritage in mind.
