Dance festival set for University
The first Oceania Dance Festival will kick off at the University of the South Pacific next Wednesday. The July 26 to 28 gathering is being organised by the USP's Oceania Centre for Arts and Culture and the Fiji Chapter of the World Dance Alliance. WDA Fiji Chapter's Sachiko Miller said the main aim of the festival was to contribute to the activities of the Oceania Centre for Arts and Culture and promote dance in Fiji. Unlike many traditional dance festivals in the Pacific, the Oceania Dance Festival 2006 will focus on concepts and ideas while not forgetting the Pacific context and heritage. As part of activities during the week, there will various workshops which will be open to both the members of the public and festival participants.
