Weekend of happenings in Suva

A full weekend of exciting events is coming up in Suva this week as the country looks forward to celebrate the Queen's Birthday Holiday next Monday. The activities start Friday evening with a "Meke" (Fijian Traditional Dance) Exhibition sponsored by the Trade Mission of the R.O.C. (Taiwan) at the Civic Auditorium. Saturday sees the hosting of the first World Music Festival Fiji at the Post Fiji Stadium with bands from overseas including Boney M and Te Vaka to perform with an assortment of local bands and dance groups. The Philippines community in Suva will celebrate their nation's Independence Day on Sunday with traditional dances, songs and food. On the Queen's Birthday Holiday on Monday, Fiji will officially celebrate its win of the IRB 7s Rugby Cup this year which our 7s team won after winning the London leg of the tournament.
